Russian Revolution
The Russian revolution was a group of revolutions during 1917. Also called the Bolshevik revolution, this change got rid of the Tsarist absolute monarchy and created the Soviet Union. Tsar Nicholas II was forced to step down and was replaced with an interim government. The Russian revolution brought economic and political reforms, which were positive and negative.
The Russian revolution was started mainly with the February revolution, which started because of protests and demanding food and wanting the end of the Tsar. Nicholas II then attacked the people with the army, but the Cossacks resisted. Once Nicholas II stepped down, the Russian parliament came into power. In the Bolshevik revolution (October Revolution), the Bolshevik extremist group gained support of most of Russia, and then declared a civil war, which lasted between 1918 and 1920.
When the Russian parliament was overturned, the rise of communism came. Communism is sharing the wealth among the nation. This change can be seen as a positive and negative change to the Russian government. Communism brought another absolute ruler but got rid off the monarch so it was kind of counterproductive.
“The end may justify the means as long as there is something that justifies the end.” ~ Leon Trotsky
This quote really explains why the Bolsheviks did what they did because they knew what they needed to do so they did it and it worked. As long as you have a plan and you know what might happen and what you may want to happen.
“I shall never, under any circumstances, agree to a representative form of government because I consider it harmful to the people whom God has entrusted to my care.”
~Nicholas II
This quote shows the resistance of Tsar Nicholas II about the revolutions and rebellions going on. He did not want a bad government to take over from him and was afraid that something bad was going to happen to Russia.
